Senior Section may wish to do as many as they can in a day, whilst Rainbows may want to visit one or two in a day - the choice is yours. There are other activities that can be done in Unit meetings.
We hope you have fun completing the Challenge - please ensure that Girlguiding UK rules and ratios are adhered to when visiting London with your Unit.

Beat the Clock 2011
We really enjoyed 'Beat the Clock' – especially because it was our first outing as a group. We really enjoyed the incidents as they helped us to work better as a team and realise each others skills. The morning activities were really helpful and esigning/decorating an egg was great. We went for a farmyard theme with a chick, a cow, a pig and a cat which we carefully carried around the whole hike until we scrambled them at the end. Very Tasty!
Our favourite incident would have to be peeling a potato blindfolded, tricky but good fun. Also the 'water on a spoon obstacle race' was challenging but enjoyable. We clambered over benches and squeezed behind telephone boxes whilst trying to keep as much water on our spoons as possible.
We were really pleased to have done the hike in such a good time and sharing the sweets with everyone was another favourite bit!
We would definitely like to do somethng like this again, it was a brilliant day and we are very grateful to everyone who helped to make it happen – thank you!

Centenary Letterboxing
Thank you to everyone that took part in the Centenary Letterbox Challenge and helped to make it a success. Especially to the volunteers that were guardians of the boxes and to Sprint Sports and Leisure for providing the badges.
It has taken a while to get all the information together but now we have it here are a few facts.
Forty people were given badges for collecting at least eight stamps. The youngest was Elise Thornhill who is a Brownie at 3rd Oakwood Brownie Pack.
Visiting dignitaries in the form of Colin and Val, The Region Walking Advisors completed the challenge and thoroughly enjoyed discovering different areas of Derbyshire.
The most visited box was Egginton, with a total of 66 visitors, closely followed by Linacre Reservoirs and Youlgrave.
The least visited box was Edale, but then it was always going to struggle to be top in the leader board as it was in a very out of the way place in the county and apparently very difficult to find, (believed to be missing on a number of occasions, but actually safely tucked away being looked after by the moth people!)
A number of random non-guiding people found some of the boxes and wrote some lovely comments, especially at High Peak Junction (Cromford).
Anyone that went out looking for the boxes would have to agree that the most difficult to find was Elvaston Castle – but at least you all know what a yew tree looks like now!
Sue Featherstone got her Dartmoor letterbox stamp out of retirement and took part in the challenge – hopefully it brought back many happy memories of feeling around under rocks and gorse in the mist and rain on Dartmoor!
Keep watching for other new ideas coming from the Walking Team next year
